Carter Anderson is the true definition of soul, love and real timeless romance. His voice is a powerhouse and his aura is of a true gentleman. The Kentucky born singer/songwriter is no stranger to music and at the age of 9, Carter began to realize his natural ability to hear melodies and rhythm. At age 13, the Fort Washington, Maryland raised singer made his first singing debut with a rendition of “Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher.” From that point on Carter sang throughout high school and college years with different R&B groups but then in 1995 he decided to go solo. In 1998, Carter linked up with producer and Black Entertainment Television audio engineer, Terry Lewis for the recording of his first demo. Between 1998 and 2004, Carter consistently recorded songs not only with Lewis but with producers Donald King and Elise Perry. In 2004, he took a stab at reality TV and auditioned American Idol and famed talent competition Star Search. Unfortunately, Carter didn’t make it through the American Idol competition or Star Search but opted to continue his solo project independently instead of chasing record companies. In October of 2005, after completing a few more songs with Lewis, his debut album, Not the Last Gentleman was released. "Terry and I have worked many years together," Carter says. "When the two of us get together in the studio, its constant non-stop production. We have teamed together to produce the music he and I love to hear." His debut album includes the singles, “You Make My Day”, “I Apologize” and the title track, “Not the Last Gentleman”. Carter speaks candidly about his debut album, Not the Last Gentleman saying, “I grew up learning to treat women the way they deserved to be treated, and I know I'm not the only man who was raised that way." Carter’s debut album promises a true representation of his personal writings and musical style. However, Carter has long admired such greats as Donny Hathaway, Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder and Brian McKnight and has performed many of their hits during his stage performance, including his visit to the world-famous Apollo Theatre in New York City. On stage, Carter has a stage presence full of energy and vibrancy. His soulful voice and originally-written ballads have won over many audiences time and time again. He has had the opportunity to share the stage with artists such as Selene Lemme, Hueman Prophets, Wayna, and Tony Terry. Carter has also participated in events and been affiliated with the National Council of Negro Women, SuitlandFEST Community Development Corporation, United States Postal Service, and radio outlets, IM4RadioDC and SoulCity Radio. Carter is reminded every day of God’s blessings and has thanked his family and friends for the love and support they have shown throughout his music career. “It’s been a long road, with lots of ups and downs, to get this project done. A lot of deep, long-forgotten emotions have been tapped into, in order to find the right inspiration for each song. Now that the album is finally finished, I couldn’t be happier.”
